About the Family

A warm, loving, and family-oriented family in Redding, Connecticut , is seeking an exceptionally experienced, calm, and nurturing career nanny to care for their young daughter. The family lives in the beautiful Connecticut countryside and is looking for someone who genuinely loves working with babies and toddlers and would enjoy becoming a trusted, long-term member of their household.

The family is specifically seeking a seasoned, mature figure who brings wisdom, patience, sound judgment, and years of professional childcare experience. They value a nanny who can provide loving guidance, foster their daughter's development, and offer the confidence and reassurance that come with a long, established career in childcare.

Speaking Japanese to the child is a required qualification. The family is committed to incorporating Japanese language exposure into their daughter's daily life and is seeking a nanny who can naturally communicate with her in Japanese throughout the day.

The family also has three much-loved rescue dogs who are an important part of the household. The ideal candidate must genuinely love dogs and be comfortable providing occasional pet care as needed.

Position Overview

This is a permanent, full-time career nanny position focused primarily on providing exceptional care for the family's daughter. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of professional nanny experience , particularly with infants and toddlers, and a naturally calm, nurturing, patient, and warm personality.

The family is not seeking someone who is new to the profession or still developing their childcare experience. They want a mature, highly capable professional who has the confidence and expertise to anticipate a child's needs, navigate developmental stages, and provide thoughtful guidance while respecting the parents' preferences and parenting philosophy.

The nanny will be fully engaged with the child throughout the day, supporting her development and milestones through age-appropriate activities, reading, music, outdoor exploration, walks, and play. Speaking Japanese to the child and incorporating the language into everyday routines will be an essential part of the role.

The family values a nanny who is attentive without being overbearing, nurturing without being overly structured, and capable of creating a peaceful, loving environment for their child.

Professionalism is essential. The family expects a high level of etiquette, discretion, and professional demeanor in both communication and personal presentation. The successful candidate should be polished, articulate, dependable, and comfortable maintaining professional standards within a private household.

This is first and foremost a childcare position, with some light household assistance related to the child and family during nap times and quieter moments. The nanny should also be comfortable helping with the family's dogs when needed.

Responsibilities

Childcare & Development

  • Provide loving, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for the family's young daughter.
  • Create a calm, nurturing, and engaging environment throughout the day.
  • Speak Japanese to the child as part of her daily routine , incorporating the language naturally through conversation, reading, songs, play, and everyday activities.
  • Encourage developmental milestones, curiosity, and learning through age-appropriate play and activities.
  • Engage the child in reading, singing, music, arts and crafts, and interactive play.
  • Take the child on walks and spend time outdoors when weather permits.

  • Maintain the child's daily routine, including naps, meals, and activities.

  • Keep parents informed about the child's day, development, and milestones through clear, thoughtful, and professional communication.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for the child.
  • Accompany the child on local outings and activities as appropriate.

  • Be comfortable and happy living and working in a home where dogs are an important part of daily family life.

This is not a housekeeping or pet-care position. The primary focus will always be the care, safety, happiness, and development of the child, with occasional assistance with the dogs as needed.

  • A true senior-level career nanny with a demonstrated history of long-term placements and a strong professional track record.

  • A mature, grandmotherly presence who can offer wisdom, perspective, and experienced guidance while remaining respectful of the parents' approach.
  • Fluency in Japanese or the ability to speak Japanese confidently and consistently with the child is required. Candidates must be able to incorporate Japanese into everyday childcare, conversation, reading, and play.

  • Polished, articulate, and professional communication skills, both in person and in writing.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, mature, and highly responsible.
  • Proactive and organized, with the ability to anticipate needs and exercise sound judgment independently.

  • Comfortable living and working in a household with three rescue dogs.
  • Interested in a long-term, permanent position and committed to becoming a trusted member of the family.
  • Candidates who are newer to their nanny careers or do not meet the senior-level experience requirement will not be a fit for this position.
  • Live-in candidates are strongly preferred, though exceptional live-out candidates will be considered.
  • Candidates from anywhere in the country are encouraged to apply; the family is open to relocating the right person to Connecticut.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $50+ per hour , depending on experience.
  • Approximately 40 hours per week .
  • Schedule will generally fall within the family's daytime hours, with some flexibility for occasional evenings as needed.
  • Live-in arrangement preferred.
  • The family is open to discussing relocation for an exceptional candidate.

The family hopes to find an exceptionally experienced, kind, calm, and nurturing career nanny who brings a grandmotherly warmth, speaks Japanese with confidence, and demonstrates the highest standards of professionalism. The ideal candidate will genuinely enjoy caring for young children, love dogs, and be excited to build a lasting relationship with a wonderful family.
